Lycurgo C. Querido is a Brazilian-born photojournalist and professional fine arts and commercial photographer.
A lifelong lover of the art, as passed down from his parents, Lycurgo Querido knew from a young age that photography was his true form of expression. After experimenting with the artform throughout his youth, he graduated from the Pan-American School of Art (Escola Panamericana de Arte) in São Paulo in 1993. Launching a dedicated career as a photojournalist in 1996 at the Brazilian regional newspaper ValeParaibano, he delved even deeper into the tools of his trade, and discovered the profound layers of expression that he could find and communicate outwardly with his lens.
After signing onto Folha de São Paulo -- one of the most important newspaper in Brazil and where several of his photos graced the front page -- his work continued to gain recognition, and he moved on to be published in various newspapers and magazines worldwide.
Lycurgo made a new home of Los Angeles, California, where he currently resides. After working with Revista Sete, an LA-based Brazilian magazine, he has launched an extensive career in fine art and commercial photography, and has become known for his acute work in expressing landscape, portraiture, travel, and the exquisiteness of the human form.
He currently is accepting limited projects for commission. To be photographed by Lycurgo, please contact him at
